Two intracoastal waterway cruisers, 37 ft and 47 ft. Canal boat type
Designs No. 368 and 369
These two boats were designed for a company that was looking to start a charter operation on the St. John's River in Florida. From there they intended to expand into other inland destinations such as the TennTom and Erie canal. There are literally thousands of navigable waterways in the U.S. where boats of this kind can leisurely cruise. The idea was great put unfortunately the company never got off the ground and these boats were never built. We patterned the design along the lines of the canal boats that operate throughout Europe. They are sort of houseboats thus we referred to them in the Dutch manner as Hausboots. They are shallow draft, Hard chined with a low profile so that bridge clearances would never be a problem.
The larger of the two is 46' overall, 12'-4" in beam with a draft of 2'-3". Recommended power was a single 115hp diesel with a bow thruster to assist in manuevering. This design called for two staterooms so that two couples could charter the boat and enjoy good privacy.
The smaller boat is 36'-9" overall with a beam of 10'-4" and a draft of 2'-3". Recommended power was a single 75 hp diesel with a bow thruster.
This is a one couple boat although there is a sleeper sofa that provides a convertible double bed.
Both boats have bow cockpits for sightseeing and plenty of deck space on the cabin tops for lounging and sunbathing,
Both boats were designed for construction is fiberglass.
